Glasgow, Scotland, is a European medieval city but most of the architecture in the city is from the 19th century, making Glasgow one of the best representations of Victorian architecture in the world. The city found its wealth during the Industrial Revolution and its most popular destinations represent that time period. Some of the sights in the city a visitor wouldn't want to miss include the Tolbooth Steeple, Royal Exchange Square (which is particularly beautiful at night), Clyde Arc, The Doulton Fountain, The People's Palace, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and two of the oldest remaining examples of historic architecture, Provand's Lordship and St. Mungo's Cathedral.
Glasglow was designated as the European City of Culture in 1990 and it celebrates its many cultural activities through a multitude of offerings of ballet, opera, art, architecture, concerts, and theatre. The city is also proud of its sports, which include curling, football, and rugby.
